80s Nostalgia Game ‘Crossing Souls’ Releases, and Gets a Launch Trailer

Today (February 13) marks the release of Crossing Souls, developer Fourattic’s retro-adventure game. One week after the release of a free demo, the full Crossing Souls is available for purchase; alongside its release, the game also got a launch trailer.

Crossing Souls is an action-adventure set in a California suburb in the midst of a supernatural event that rocks the small community as grand forces siege the town,” the launch trailer’s synopsis reads. “Control five characters: Chris, Matt, Charlie, Big Joe and Kevin, each one with their own skills and combat styles. Change characters on the fly and use each character’s specialties to overcome any obstacle and target your foe’s weaknesses. Fight in real-time, solve clever puzzles, face off against powerful bosses and play special levels inspired by 80’s arcade video games.”

The game, set in 1986 and featuring a cartoony, pixelated aesthetic, follows the five friends as they “discover a mysterious pink stone that allows to travel between two realms” and become immersed in a government conspiracy. You can watch the full launch trailer below:

The game is Fourattic’s first ever game to release as a company. Crossing Souls is available now for the PlayStation 4, and PC.

Glenn Carreau: Hi! I'm Glenn: recent college grad specializing in interactive arts and media, writer, game creator and connoisseur, pop culture junkie, and semi-professional fan-artist and blogger. In my free time, I function as an unnecessarily specific gaming encyclopedia. I also play the violin, binge crime/detective procedural shows (still not sure why), and do a large amount of digital painting. I'm probably too attached to Dragon Age, but not really inclined to do anything about it. I'm a huge fan of cosplay, foxes, the prose of Jenny Lawson, and Strong Female Characters™.
