61 GB Of Team Fortress 2 Assets Leak, Reveals Unused Maps and Models

In one of the largest gaming leaks from Valve in years, 61 GB of Team Fortress 2 data has been leaked from Valve’s source developer repository. Discovered in this asset leak are unused maps, game modes, models, taunts and weapons only previously seen in development screenshots from versions that have been long since scrapped.

Aside from annual Halloween patches, Valve has stopped updating Team Fortress 2 since its 2017 Jungle Inferno patch. This makes this massive asset leak likely the final major information dump for the rest of Team Fortress 2‘s lifespan. Twitter user Richter Overtime detailed some of the leaked data in a Twitter thread:

More than 20 maps have been discovered among the assets, with varying degrees of completion from completely textured and structured to bare templates. Among these maps was a scrapped sequel to the popular map dust bowl:

Fans have also discovered numerous unused character models, such as one of an official female Soldier, an unused Witch, and a model of a nude Spy:

Much of the content of this leak has not been publicly spread yet, and with over 60 GB of data to sift through, it will likely take weeks for fans to discover all of the available information. With how expansive the Team Fortress 2 modding community is, it is possible that some of these unused assets may be repurposed into playable maps, models and game modes in the future.
