Publisher and developer Argonaut games announced that their remaster of classic 3D platforming adventure Croc: Legend of The Gobbos will release digitally on April 2 for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC. Gematsu shares that the PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch versions will receive a physical release and are available for pre-order through Rock It Games.
Just like in the original release, Croc: Legend Of The Gobbos is set in the Gobbo Valley. You’ll assume the role of Croc, a humble little crocodile on a quest to rescue his adoptive family of Gobbos from the evil sorcerer Baron Dante and his impish Dantini Horde.
In the Gematsu report Argonauts Games founder Jez San said of the upcoming release “We are thrilled to bring Croc: Legend of the Gobbos to a new generation of gamers, our team has worked tirelessly to preserve the charm and nostalgia of the original game while introducing modern enhancements that make it even more enjoyable on today’s consoles and PCs. We can’t wait for players to dive into Croc’s world and experience the magic again.”
Croc: Legend of The Gobbos features 45 levels across five unique worlds. The new release features HD graphics, previously unavailable at the time of the original release and updated modern controls. The game also includes a ‘Crocipedia’ which includes a digital museum, animation test, design documents, pre-releases mixes of soundtracks, and documentary style interviews.
Argonaut Games have gone to great lengths to bring Croc: Legend of The Gobbos up to date for modern players while seemingly preserving elements like the Croicipedia for players who may have originally experienced the title in their youth; All of this bodes well for the platformer, which does seem to have a existing base eagerly awaiting it’s release.
