2XKO (Formerly Project L) Is Set To Release In 2025

Today, Riot Games has officially given a title to Project L, its upcoming 2v2 tag-based fighting game with the League of Legends characters. Riot has also revealed its plans for 2XKO for this year leading up to launch in 2025. 2XKO will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Tom Cannon, Senior Director & Executive Producer of Project L spoke about what Riot Games has in studio for the game in 2024.

“First things first: we have a name! Project L is now officially 2XKO. After spending most of 2023 in heads-down mode, we’re finally ready to share more with you—and get you more hands-on play time. So we thought it was time we got on a first-name (…first-number?) basis.

What’s next for us, then? In 2024 we want to hear more from you, the fighting game community, to make sure we’re bringing you the best game possible at launch and beyond.”

This year, 2XKO will be playable at different events throughout the world such as EVO Japan in April. Riot will also be providing more information on social media, sharing in-development work that the devs want input on from the community. This’ll include gameplay, art, music, or something else. The devs are also looking into starting at-home playtesting before the end of the year. Anyone who wants to participate can sign up on the official website.

“We’ve come a long way since the game was first announced, thanks in large part to all of you,” Cannon said. “We can’t wait to enter this next chapter of development and get you more involved in the making of the game.”

Paul David Nuñez: I love to escape my reality with books, music, television, movies, and games. If I'm not doing anything important, I'm probably doing one of these things. P.S. The Matrix Has You
