2K Games Removes Their Titles from Nvidia’s GeForce NOW

Nvidia announced on their forums that 2k Games will be withdrawing their games form the GeForce NOW service. 2K Games’s withdrawal will be taking popular games such as Borderlands, Civilization, Bioshock, and XCOM. Nvidia claims this move came from the publisher themselves not by Nvidia. Notably, Rockstar’s games such as Grand Theft Auto 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 are also not on GeForce NOW. Both Rockstar and 2k Games are subsidiaries of Take-Two Interactive.

We are working with 2K Games to re-enable their games in the future.

2k Games is not the only publisher that has removed their game’s from GeForce NOW. Activision-Blizzard has removed their games from GeForce. Nvidia explained this removal as a misunderstanding of terms between them and Activion-Blizzard. Nvidia had the right to use Activion-Blizzard games during GeForce NOW’s beta testing but did not secure the rights to use those games for GeForce NOW’s full release. Bethesda and their parent company ZeniMax has removed all of their games from the service. Bethesda Softworks did leave Wolfenstein: YoungBlood on GeForce NOW and founders can play the game with RTX On. Despite the withdrawal of other companies, Epic Games has promised to stay.

Tim Sweeney has spoken out with his support of Nvidia’s GeForce NOW, giving them the use of their whole store, including exclusives and the wildly popular Fortnite. Publishers and developers have been removing their games from the service, with some citing the Nividia switching GeForce NOW from a free to use service to having a subscription fee as a reason. Other publishers and developers are claiming that they were unaware that their games were even going to be supported at all.

Despite the series of setbacks, Nvidia is aiming to support Steam’s full library of games as one of their first milestones, with their ultimate goal being similar to GOG Galaxy 2.0, and bringing the PC storefronts into one place.

Griffin Gilman: Gaming may very well be half of my personality, so it is only natural that I write about them. The best genre is RPGs, while the best game is Nier Automata. That's not an opinion but a matter of facts.
