Today, BAFTA has revealed the nominees for the 20th BAFTA Game Awards. Baldur’s Gate III leads all with 10 nominations followed by Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 with nine. Alan Wake II had eight nominations. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor had six nominations. Dave the Diver and Hi-Fi Rush were nominated in five categories. Cocoon, Dredge, Final Fantasy XVI, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and Viewfinder each had four nominations. A total of 40 games across 17 categories were nominated.
Chants of Sennaar, Goodbye Volcano High, Tchia, Terra Nil, Thirsty Suitors, and Venba were nominated in the Games Beyond category. Other games that have received nominations include Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, Cassette Beasts, Cyberpunk 2077, Dead Island 2, Diablo IV, Disney Illusion Island, Final Fantasy XIV Online, Football Manager 2024, Forza Horizon 5, Forza Motorsport, Genshin Impact, Hogwarts Legacy, Horizon Call of the Mountain, Jusant, No Man’s Sky, Party Animals, Starfield, Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical, and Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin.
Another highlight for this year’s BAFTA Game Awards is that eleven out of the twelve nominees in the performance categories receive their first BAFTA nomination. This includes Sam Lake for Alan Wake 2; Amelia Tyler, Andrew Wincott, Neil Newbon, Samantha Béart (a 2023 BAFTA Breakthrough) and Tracey Wiles for Baldur’s Gate 3; Ralph Ineson for Final Fantasy XIV; Cameron Monaghan and Debra Wilson for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor; Tony Todd and Yuri Lowenthal for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
Voting is now open for the EE Players’ Choice Award which is the only award voted for by the public. The nominees include Baldur’s Gate 3, Cyberpunk 2077, Fortnite, Lethal Company, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
The games nominated for the Best Game category include Alan Wake II, Baldur’s Gate III, Dave The Diver, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and Super Mario Bros. Wonder.
