2021 Steam Summer Sale Has Begun

As predicted by leaked information from Valve, the Steam Summer Sale has begun, starting on June 24 and ending on July 8. The annual sale event features some of the steepest discounts available for both mainstream and indie titles, as well as exploring themes that provide Steam cosmetics and items. This year, there are some beloved franchises that have slashed their prices severely. Games like Destiny 2, The Witcher, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, The Sims 4, Wolfenstein, and Civilization 6, along with countless others, are all enjoying price reductions from between 10%- 90% off. As usual, the Steam Summer Sale has every gamer reaching for their wallet.

The theme for this year’s Steam Summer Sale is “Forge Your Fate,” which includes a micro text adventure. There are 14 different scenarios that vary based on game genres, including action, open-world, and rouge-like stories, and each page links to a selection of the most popular games in each genre to browse. Each story, when completed, awards the user with its own animated sticker, and together the stickers create a badge for the esteemed Steam user that completes all the micro-adventures. To its users, Steam says: “It’s time to FORGE YOUR FATE: Obviously you are a hero. Everyone says so. But what kind? This year’s summer sale is no ordinary deep discount super sale — you are about to face a gauntlet of short stories, each ending with a choice that will help classify what sort of hero you are.”

With the sale, Steam is also introducing Game Profiles, which are cosmetics like avatars and backgrounds that are related to different games, so players can show off their commitment to their favorite games. This will add another dimension to the Points Shop, as that is where these Game Profiles can be purchased. No matter what a Steam user decides to do, this year’s Steam Summer Sale will spruce up their profile and provide some entertainment.
