Ever since it launched earlier this year, Ori and the Will of the Wisps has become one of the biggest hits of 2020. The sequel to the equally acclaimed Ori and the Blind Forest hits all of the checkmarks on everything the fans wanted, which developer Moon Studios made evident with all of the hard work they put into the project. The studio released some interesting statistics for the game, with the most eye-popping one being that roughly 2 million players have played the game at one point or another, an impressive feat considering that it released just this past March.
As you can see in the above tweet, the numbers are broken down into separate categories from the 2 million players of Ori and the Will of the Wisps, showing each one as their own specific achievements. Right underneath the mammoth number of 2 million is the time played, which shows that players have accumulated 14.5 million hours, which in an of itself is an insane accomplishment. Right next to that is the collective amount of times that players have died in the game, which came out to an understandable 240 million as the game is fairly challenging.
To the right of that is the giant list of achievements that players have collectively obtained. At the very top is the amount of players who have actually beaten the title, 423 thousand in total, which is not a whole of the 2 million who have attempted it. Speaking of attempt, underneath that number is the amount of players who have beaten the game on hardcore mode, the game’s hardest difficulty. A mere 45 thousand have achieved this feat, and to be frank that’s a lot more than we expected. Perhaps even more impressive is the 7.1 thousand who beat the game without dying once.
Either way, the whole point of this list was to show that a lot of people have played the game, and from the looks of it, also love it very much. Don’t be surprised if you see this game as a major contender for Game of the Year near the end of 2020. Ori and the Will of the Wisps is available now for the Xbox One and PC.
