Treyarch, one of the studios that work on the Call of Duty franchise released a statement talking about the current situation surrounding Activision Blizzard. Ever since the state of California sued the company over an alleged culture of sexual harassment, there has been a lot of criticism against the company. Employees have staged numerous walkouts, the most recent due to the dismissal of QA testers working at Raven Software. Following the report revealing that CEO Bobby Kotick was aware of the situation, Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo, and the ESA released statements criticizing Activision Blizzard. Most recently, a current Activision Blizzard employee shared details on the alleged sexual harassment and abuse she has experienced. Now, a group of women who work at Treyarch released this statement about the Activision Blizzard situation.

The statement reads, “Our goal as a studio is to make awesome games for the world to enjoy. Having the privilege to pursue that endeavor is made possible because of Treyarch’s people” we are a studio comprised of smart, talented, world-class creative professionals who seek to perform at our best. Our culture has no room for sexism, harassment, racism, bigotry, discrimination, or bullying. As we move forward, providing a safe, diverse, inclusive working environment so that all may thrive will be our highest priority. Everyone at Treyarch is drawn to game development because we possess a deep love for the artistry of video games and the magic that can create moments that matters and it starts by being better.”
Since the statement’s release, some of those women who worked together on the statement shared their thoughts. Miranda Due, who works on the production team, senior game designer Joanna Leung, and Production Coordinator Avani Jain released messages on Twitter.
The women of Treyarch organized to write the statement and have it published. We are the ones that have been impacted the most by what has happened, and we are fighting for a better future. Change has to happen from within and we are doing our best and need support not this. https://t.co/AoWj7BorbK

I’m honor to have helped in contributing to this and thankful for the lady who drove this initiative. Without her and all the other women who helped contributed, this statement would not have been possible. This was truly a team effort. 2/5

Having a voice and feeling like I can contribute to actual change is one of the reasons I work at Treyarch. This statement is long overdue but it’s a start. I’m disappointed with everything thats happened, but I believe we can pave the path for a better future 💙 https://t.co/KYkqVQcXLp

To everyone involved with the statement: please don’t let the negativity get to you. It’s hard for others to understand this situation since they’re not in our shoes. But be proud of the work we’ve done thus far. We have a bright future ahead of us.
