The news was shared on this month’s edition of Inside Infinite. Halo Infinite Head of Creative Joseph Staten emphasized the idea during this developer update that along with Master Chief, 343 wants the player themselves to feel like they are part of the story. Immersion and rooting the player into the heart of the Halo universe is of the utmost importance to 343 Industries.
There’s another hero standing beside Master Chief at the very heart of the Halo universe. Some of you may have met this hero way back in 2001 with the launch of Halo: Combat Evolved. Some of you will meet this hero for the first time this holiday. Because this hero is you.
Part of this push to make players part of the story will begin with the launch of Halo Infinite’s first multiplayer season. “At the center of our plans is a goal to deeply root your Multiplayer character in the larger Halo universe and give them a vital, active role in the Halo story moving forward,” Joseph Staten said. While 343 Industries isn’t ready yet to share all the details on Halo Infinite’s multiplayer, they did share why they named season one “Heroes of Reach”.
“Reach has a rich history; it’s a key location for Spartans of old and a focal point for a new generation of Spartans preparing to wrestle with the perils and mysteries of a galaxy that has fundamentally changed after the events of Halo 5.” Staten continues on, saying “Indeed, Halo Infinite’s first Multiplayer Season takes place at a transformational moment in Halo history—at the pivot point from one generation of heroes to the next.”
The post also details the new Halo Waypoint, the revision of it now that Halo Infinite is on the way, and how you can interact with your friends through it. Earlier this month, Xbox gave us our first look at Halo Infinite’s multiplayer and showed us just how much depth is going into this popular mode. From a never-expiring battle pass to tons of new customization options and even more ways to traverse and win gunfights, Halo Infinite is shaping up to be one of the biggest Xbox exclusives.
