Vaulted Sky Games and Coffee Stain Publishing revealed a teaser for their “hide-and-seek multiplayer” game, Midnight Ghost Hunt, during this year’s E3 2019 event. Explore a large, spacious mansion as the hunter or the hunted. As a Ghost, players will need to protect themselves from the Ghost Hunters.
This can be accomplished by hiding in various types of furniture. However, if you would like to take a more offensive approach, Ghosts can also attack the trespassers with anything close by, such as a chair, metal armor, or themselves. As a Hunter, players will have until midnight to rid the mansion of all Ghosts. Afterward, the spirits become vengeful and begin pursuing the Hunters. At this point, the Hunters can do nothing more than try to survive until they find a way to escape.
Midnight Ghost Hunt is up for an Unreal E3 2019 Award. According to the awards post on the Epic Games webpage, the game was nominated for the category of “Unreal Underdog”, a title awarded for the dedication of the team members for “pushing the limits to achieve an amazing showing for their game or experience at E3. Focusing on not just the product, but the people and process behind it, this award acknowledges a team’s perseverance to make a big splash at the big show.” Other titles nominated include Creature in the Well (Flight School Studio), Moons of Madness (Rock Pocket Games, Funcom), Lemnis Gate (Ratloop Games Canada), Lost Ember (Mooneye Studios), and Way to the Woods (Anthony Tan). The winner will be announced on June 20th.
The project is expected to launch for Windows PC. There is currently no estimate for its release, however, a closed alpha/beta for the game is planned for this upcoming summer. Players can sign up by joining the team’s Discord page or registering their email. They can also complete both options to increase their chances of receiving a key for the testing. Further details will be revealed in the coming months, so stay tuned.
