Microsoft revealed a new trailer for an upcoming project titled Way to the Woods during their E3 presentation. The game was developed by Anthony Tan, a young indie game designer who actually started working on it back in 2015. According to a 2016 Polygon post, the game caught the attention of publisher Team17 shortly after.
Way to the Woods is a third-person, story-focused, survival-adventure game about trying to find your way back home. The world appears to take place in a future time period where humans have been long gone, but their creations remain. The game will focus on two deer, who appear to be parent and fawn, as they attempt to make it back to the woods. Danger may lurk in the shadows, so players will need to safely lead the two through various puzzling obstacles. Carefully venture out in search of food and shelter, but beware of the wolves. Explore a hand-crafted world designed by Tan himself, and experience the journey of two deer traveling through the remnants of humanity.
Way to the Woods will also feature a beautifully scored soundtrack created by pianist Aivi Tran and sound designer Steven “Surasshu” Velema, best known for their composition work on Steven Universe. Earlier today, Tran also posted the Sound Cloud link for the full track of the E3 Trailer song.

Way to the Woods was originally scheduled for early 2019. At the time, Tan had apparently only planned to release the game for PC. However, as confirmed by the E3 2019 trailer, Way to the Woods is currently expecting to celebrate its launch sometime in 2020, “…for real this time.” The game will also include an additional console release for the Xbox One.
