Square Enix has released a new trailer for the upcoming game, Kingdom Hearts III. With the release of the trailer, game director Tetsuya Nomura has confirmed that development of Kingdom Hearts III has been completed. In a tweet posted to the official Kingdom Hearts Twitter Account, he said:
I’m proud to unveil an extended version of the trailer that’s been playing in NA cinemas. And guess what? We’ve wrapped up development of #KingdomHearts III!
If you haven’t had the chance yet, now would be a good time to prep by playing 1.5+2.5 & 2.8. See you next month! – Nomura pic.twitter.com/NvZYBut3WI— Kingdom Hearts (@KINGDOMHEARTS) November 20, 2018
What’s noteworthy here besides the completion of the game is the fact that it’s playing in North American cinemas which shows how much Square Enix is marketing the game. It’s not that showing game trailers in cinemas hasn’t been done before, it’s the fact that Kingdom Hearts is getting this push everywhere possible. Kingdom Hearts III is a title that was first revealed more than five years ago, so this is a big announcement for the team and all the fans of the series. Now, all they have to do is wait to see the conclusion of the story that started when Kingdom Hearts was released back in 2002.
Fans and newcomers have a lot to look forward to. For the first time in the franchise, characters and worlds from Pixar will be in the game. Some of the Pixar worlds include Big Hero 6, Monsters Inc., Tangled, and Toy Story. A lot of new game mechanics are coming to Kingdom Hearts III such as being able to use some of the Disney rides in battle. Other game mechanics that have been introduced in some of the other Kingdom Hearts games in the series are making a return as well.
Furthermore, the game will have a star studded voice cast that’ll have see some of the celebrities like Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Josh Gad, Zachary Levi and more reprise their roles from the movies they lent their voices to. Tetsuya Nomura has suggested prepping for the launch of Kingdom Hearts III by playing the previous titles. The best way to do so would be getting Kingdom Hearts: The Story So Far, which has practically every game from the series. This way, gamers will be as prepared when Kingdom Hearts III drops January 29, 2019 for the Xbox One and PS4.
