Cyanid Stuido’s Call of Cthulhu is an official adaptation of Chaosium’s pen and paper RPG. It is an investigation RPG title that plunges players into a universe where they have to attempt to solve a mystery that eventually robs them of their sanity and sends them spiraling into madness.
The protagonist is Private Investigator Edward Pierce, who is sent to investigate the gruesome and mysterious death of the Hawkins family when it seems that the local police department didn’t exactly handle the case correctly. Upon taking on the investigation, Pierce begins to encounter cryptic clues, conspiracy theories, cults, and other horrific features within the narrative.
Placed on this isolated Darkwater Island with only less than friendly inhabitants to try to commune with, Pierce’s sanity will be challenged the whole time during the investigation and the choices that players will make will determine on whether or not you will have any sanity left at all when you discover the troubling truth behind the Hawkins family and their demise. The game will also have four different endings as well all based upon how the player chooses to develop Pierce’s skills during the investigation as well as his relationship with other characters within the story.
“This is no easy task, as certain events may cause Pierce to develop mental trauma that impact his ability to cope, while the descent into the occult will cause his sanity to rapidly dwindle. Balancing a razer-thin line between sanity and madness, your senses will be disrupted until you question the reality of everything around you. Trust no one.” Focus Home Interactive states that Call of Cthulhu does not have an exact release date as of yet but, is set to come out for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC sometime late this year.
