Nintendo Direct just finished a presentation in which they revealed a lot of plans for the Fire Emblem franchise. Some new information was given about previous announcements, some new games were revealed and some fan speculations were confirmed.
The first game revealed was Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia. This announcement started with some exposition of the game’s story, which includes the nation of Valentia being split into northern and southern halves, each half being ruled by their own god. The two halves of Valentia wage war on each other and thus we have ourselves a Fire Emblem game. This game is apparently heavily inspired by Fire Emblem Gaiden, the second entry in the Fire Emblem series. Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia was described in the presentation as “classic Fire Emblem gameplay with a twist.” The game comes out on May 19 for 3DS systems and will include amiibos of some of the main characters.
The next announcement was a brief one, simply confirming that there is a Fire Emblem game in the works for the Switch and is planned for a 2018 release.
Next, there was a new trailer for the previously announced Fire Emblem Warriors, which revealed that the game will be released in fall of 2017 and will be available not only for the Switch, but also for the New 3DS.
Lastly, a mobile Fire Emblem game entitled Fire Emblem Heroes was announced. The game appears to include the standard RPG gameplay the series is known for. The game is set for release on February 2. Additionally, an event called Choose Your Legends was announced for the game, which will allow players to vote on which characters will be available in the game. You can vote for your favorite characters at the event’s website, which you can reach by clicking here.
