SIE Japan Studio’s sequel to Gravity Rush was set to come out in on December 2nd, unfortunately, that is no longer the case.
In a post on the PlayStation Blog, Keiichiro Toyama, the game’s director, said that the game will no long launch on that date. Instead, the game will be out on January 20th.
Toyama states that a possible reason for the delay is to polish the game’s online multiplayer. He also wants to make sure the story is perfect since it will conclude Kat’s storyline.
Gravity Rush 2 is the conclusion of Kat’s journey, so we want players to have enough time to dive deep into her story. In addition, as a lot of work went into online features that allow for asynchronous player interaction, we want as many people as possible playing the title at the same time. Thus, after careful deliberation, we have decided to change the release date. Gravity Rush 2 will now launch on January 20, 2017.
Although, it’s not all bad. Toyama goes on to say that as an apology for the delay they will be releasing some premium DLC for free. It will be additional story content that will take place in the game’s world. No further details have been revealed.
At the end of the post, Toyama said that more info will be revealed later, including an animated feature. In the comments section, Nick Accordino, Associate Project Manager at SCEA, hinted that there may be a demo on the way. When a commenter asked if one was in the works he said this.
Definitely hear you – stay tuned! 🙂
