2K Games has released a new trailer for the upcoming and soon to be released NBA 2K17. The trailer is titled “Momentous” and mostly revolves around the highs and lows that happen in the game of basketball. The trailer also features the song “Gold” by radio rockers, Imagine Dragons. Imagine Dragons is a part of the soundtrack for NBA 2K17, although not with this particular song. NBA 2K17’s soundtrack can be seen here. The trailer can be viewed below.
The trailer features a majority of the who’s who of the current NBA. The trailer featured star players like Steph Curry, Paul George, Kyrie Irving, James Harden, and LeBron James, to name a few. There are also a couple living legends that are a part of the trailer, like Dwayne Wade and Pau Gasol. It also had a lot of the sophomore players and up and coming stars in the NBA like: Karl Anthony Townes, Kristaps Porzingis, and D’Angelo Russell. Also featured were a few of this year’s NBA draft picks who are going to be playing their first year in the NBA and are expected to make waves, namely Ben Simmons, Brandon Ingram, Kris Dunn, and Thon Maker.
One of the biggest takeaways from the trailer is the appearance of many players in their new jerseys, after probably one the biggest league shakeups in the history of the NBA. Most notably the appearance of Kevin Durant in a Golden State Warriors jersey. Durant is also shown in the trailer to be chewing on his mouth piece in the same way that Steph Curry has a habit of doing. For Steph Curry, chewing on the mouthpiece is a part of his image. Durant doing the same could be interpreted as a subtle jab at Durant for joining an already championship team, rather than pursuing one on his own. Although that could also just be reading into it too much. Some other interesting change up include D Wade in a Bulls uniform, Pau Gasol in a Spurs uniform, Luis Scola in a Nets jersey, and the totally revamped Knicks roster. The trailer ends with the number 8, Shaq’s teammate, the 81-point game Kobe Bryant.
NBA 2K17 is going to be released September 20th for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. NBA 2K17 is also currently available for pre-order with various bundles. Those who pre-ordered the game will be available to play it September 16th.
