Tell Tale Games revealed some more details about The Walking Dead Season 3 at this year’s San Diego Comic Con. During the panel a poster for the game was shown, which is fitting considering the original concept art for the game was first shown at San Diego Comic Con 2011. The new poster even pays homage to the original, with some key differences. In this new poster Clementine is no longer being held, instead she is standing side by side with Javier, who is a new character in the game’s story. So far not much is known about Javier.
The Walking Dead’s Creative Director, Dennis Lenart of Tell Tale and Mellissa Hutchinson, voice of Clementine, shared more about the upcoming game, of course trying their best to avoid any and all spoilers. They showed off some screen shots, firstly one of Clementine and Javier making their way through a Slaughterhouse. This kind of imagery sets a tone and could be indicative of the tone this installment will be taking, but this is of course up to speculation. The player is going to be able to control both Clementine and Javier, as we discussed in a previous article. Lenart put a lot of focus on that importance of the player being able to control Javier. If the player had played the games previously they have the chance to control a character who they may have helped create based on past decisions, or if this is their first experience with the series they have the opportunity to control a survivor, new to the post-apocalyptic world.
Season 3 is being advertised as an entry point as well for new comers to the game. This is mainly through the introduction of a young survivor by the name of AJ. Those who have played the previous installments of the game will remember AJ as the son of Rebecca from Season 2. It was confirmed that he will be appearing in this game as well. From a story stand point he allows new comers to the series to learn parts of Clementine’s past, while players of the older games will be a part of a story uniquely shaped by their previous choices.
This is the first bit of new information regarding The Walking Dead Season 3 since the E3 trailer that came out earlier this year. This trailer can be viewed below.
According to Tell Tale’s blog, more will be revealed about The Waling Dead Season 3 as the Summer progresses. The Walking Dead Season 3 is set to have its first installment released sometime in Fall of 2016.
