With the latest 2D Mario game receiving such a positive reception from fans of the series, many were left to wonder if Super Mario Bros Wonder would receive additional content. This question only became more pronounced as other popular games from the Switch received updated versions for the Switch 2. Nintendo has finally answered these lingering questions with a full overview of the Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros Wonder.

The first thing revealed for the Switch 2 Edition is Bellabel Park, the center of the new content. In the Attraction Center, players will be able to access two different areas. The first allows for versus or co-op challenges with friends in local multiplayer either on the same system or through GameShare. The second, Game Room Plaza, allows for online multiplayer with up to 12 players in six new challenges. Another new area in Bellabel Park, Camp Central, allows players to take on challenges from the Toad Brigade, revisiting courses from the game to complete training objectives.

The main gameplay addition to Switch 2 version of Super Mario Wonder comes with the addition of the Koopalings, who have stolen Bellabel Flowers and hidden within courses throughout the game. Each Koopaling will trigger a different effect, altering the level around them to completely change the way it plays. To help deal with the Koopalings, players will also be able to play Rosalina in the main game. With her comes her friendly Luma, who can be played in multiplayer with the controller or mouse controls to assist players. Players now have access to an assist mode on all characters which can protect them from damage or falling during gameplay.

Nintendo can trace its mainstream popularity back to the success of 2D Mario, so it’s no surprise that they do their best to keep the latest in that series fresh. The Switch 2 Edition of the game will be available on March 26.
