Those of whom who are enamored with the more immersive side of the shooter genre will be delighted to know that Unrecord is, in fact, well on its way. The teaser trailer for the upcoming tactical shooter was released back in 2023, and generated some serious hype through its showcase of a level of hyper-realism almost unseen in the industry as of yet. This was accomplished not through groundbreaking lighting tech or high-fidelity assets, but rather primarily through the eerily accurate rendition of the digital artifacts of bodycam footage, assisted in no small part by incredible animation work. French Developer DRAMA Studios put out a couple of updates since Unrecord’s reveal, but production of the game has been somewhat clandestine since then. Today, however, they posted this on X:
We are funded!
At the time of the trailer in 2023, we were just 2 bedroom programmers with no experience in the industry. The game was just 6 months old and exceeded all our expectations. With limited finances, we started from scratch, working sleepless nights and handling… pic.twitter.com/KBLopRCpVT

In this two year period of quiet development, a competitor arose. The desire for this diegetic camera based shooter was filled for some by a seemingly derivative title called Bodycam from Reissad Studio in 2024, which caused a small dilemma for DRAMA. Apparently, some players were under the impression that the game had been renamed because of how similar they both looked, although the newcomer focused on PvP combat instead of the single-player experience Unrecord will be. Last year in June, around the release of Bodycam, DRAMA Studios attempted to clarify the mix-up:
We have noticed some confusion regarding Unrecord. The name has not changed. Our game has not been released yet and we are still in active development.

Regardless of this incident, anticipation for Unrecord has never really been put in doubt, and remains in the top 10 most wishlisted titles on Steam. And the aforementioned hushed development cycle has been asserted by the developers as being not because of “inaction” but rather a dedication to produce a quality product unfettered by financial objectives. There’s still no launch date for Unrecord as of yet, but the transparency DRAMA team has shown so far as well as the news of its increase in resources likely means that there’s something good around the corner–so long as you’re patient.
