This evening at the 2025 Game Awards, Capcom made the surprise announcement of a brand new return to the classic side scrolling action platformer combat of the classic Mega Man games with Mega Man: Dual Overdrive. The accompanying gameplay trailer featured footage of a flashy, updated engine previously seen in the series’ 2018 installment, Mega Man 11. At the end of the trailer, fans will notice a classic call back to the series’ first anti-hero, with Proto Man’s iconic whistle theme, sparking intregue into what the game’s story might have in store for the future of the Mega Man series.

Mega Man: Dual Overdrive is planned for a 2027 release to PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, PS4 and PS5, and Xbox systems.
