The secret behind the statue has been confirmed. Larian Studios, team behind Divinity: Original Sin and Baldur’s Gate 3 has announced their upcoming game Divinity at The Game Awards 2025. The Hellstone brings up the rear in the trailer reveal.

Larian Studios has shared that Divinity, a continuation of the Divinity Original Sin series, will be their largest game yet… even larger than Baldur’s Gate 3! Larian Studios would like players to know that knowledge of the original Divinity: Original Sin games will not be necessary to enjoy Divinity, but those who have will achieve a deeper understanding and enjoying of the continuity of the franchise.
In the trailer, a man with a crown of madness around his head is burnt alive as large wicker statues are set ablaze during what seems to be a festival. As he burns, he erupts, as if cursed, his body becoming the centerpiece of the Hellstone. Larian Studios had previously denied a Divinity: Original Sin 3 on a post to X, formerly known as Twitter, and, well, technically they aren’t wrong as this new title is Divinity.
Founder and game director of Larian Studios, Swen Vincke, has said regarding Divinity:
Despite our long history with the series, this is our first game entitled ‘Divinity.’ We’re ready to bring everything we’ve done previously into one place. This marks the beginning of something with more breadth, depth, and intimacy than anything we’ve created before. We’ve been building toward this moment ever since we took our fate into our own hands. This is the Divinity we’ve always wanted to make and you’re going to have loads of fun with it.
