Publisher indie.io and Gamecom Team have released a release date announcement trailer confirming the launch of their open-world, action-comedy beat-’em-up Troublemaker 2: Beyond Dream. Gematsu reports that the title is set for launch on PC on September 15.
The game is set in the fictional city of South Jayakarta, an urban environment inspired by Indonesian culture and cities. Players assume the roles of two teenagers, Jordan and Budi. Jordan is a student and a member of a band known as “Beyond Dream” the band led by Jordan, Alex, Andira, and Halimawan; Jordan has a goal of making his band the most popular in the city. Budi is an MMA fighter and member of the “Parakacuk” gang, a ‘friendship gang’ from his high school days. “Parakacuk” consists of Budi, Boby, Rani, and Zaenal. Budi’s goal is to become the best MMA fighter in the city.
In Troublemaker 2: Beyond Dream players will engage in combat using bare fist, weaponry, special techniques, and finishers. The city landscape features mini-games and side stories obtained by helping townsfolk. Jordan specializes in a street brawling style while Budi relies on MMA, with combo variations and South Jayakarta also features unique shops.
Gamecom Team’s previous work Troublemaker was praised for its work in character writing and story but drew some criticism in its combat. It stands to reason that the team is back to give Troublemaker 2: Beyond Dream the expansion this series is looking for. indie.io and Gamecom have put an emphasis on the world’s open city moving forward with the previous title’s linear aspects. Dual fighting styles is another addition we can see in this title along with their protagonist. Fans of classic beat-em ups or even modern titles may need to look out for this when it drops come September.
