Publisher Silver Lining Interactive and developer Infuse Studio have announced that the sequel to their indie adventure game Spirit of the North. Spirit of the North 2 will be launching on May 8 for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. This announcement came way by the reveal of a brand new trailer. Gematsu reports that physical editions, including a special “Signature” edition will be made available for the PlayStation 5 and PC.
Spirit of the North 2 takes place in a world of ruin. You will assume the role of a lone fox, guided by their loyal raven companion on a quest to free the lost guardians from the curse of the dark shaman Grimnir. Set across the northern isles, you’ll face challenges including exploring an open world and solving puzzles to cleanse the land.
In a recently released development diary, Taylor Christensen of Infuse Studio, one of the creators of Spirit of the North 2 goes on to say “Spirit of the North one was a linear Journey with no Auto saves no branching paths. Just a beautifully handcrafted experience you played in a set order we knew players loved this but we knew they wanted more. More places to explore, more stories to uncover and more freedom to move about the world. The world is massive nearly 10 times the size of the first game the island you explore is about four by four kilometers with six distinct regions for our small team this was a big challenge but one we were very excited to take on.”
Spirit of the North 2 expands over 16 hours and features customizable appearances for both your fox and raven companion. The Signature edition features a full color, signed lore booklet, two embroidered patches, four crafted metal character pins, two art cards, and two Runescript cards.
Infuse Studio have sought to enrich the player experience they had with the first Spirit of the North. With the games appealing to a more casual audience and carrying a strong thematic setting, Spirit of the North 2 may do well with fans and newcomers this time next month.
