Publisher HypeTrain Digital and developer Ice-Pick Lodge have announced that their upcoming survival horror RPG Pathologic 3 will receive a free prologue release titled Pathologic 3: Quarantine and that it will launch on PC, via Steam on March 17 as reported by Gematsu.
Pathologic 3 is set in a small town plagued by a mysterious outbreak. You will assume the role of a young scientist Bachelor Daniil Dankovsky who’s left his acclaimed lab and his primary goal is to find a means to immortality; You’ll spend time examining patients and exploring.
Gaming Bolt interviewed Pathologic 3′s creative producer Alexandra Alphyna and asked how Pathologic 2’s foundation prepared the developers going into Pathologic 3, Alexandra Alphyna had this to say “With Pathologic 3, we knew from the start that we wanted to make a different experience — i.e. tell the Bachelor’s story through mechanics that are different from the Haruspex’s. Subjective storytelling via not only quests but also mechanics is the core focus of Pathologic, so it was crucial for us to choose precisely the elements that would shape Bachelor’s worldview. For example, being respected by the town’s elites (unlike the Haruspex), he doesn’t need to bother about finding food or money. Instead, he may struggle with his own mind — and also needs to make decisions that shape the whole face of the town.”
Pathologic 3: Quarantine features an unreliable narrator as the story is told through the lens of Bachelor’s adversaries. The game features a diagnosis system where you’ll dish out decrees based on your research and an intuitive display where hidden secrets are often found.
Developer Ice-Pick Lodge is aiming to create something that builds upon the successes of their previous works Pathologic 2. With a free prologue coming out within the next month or so, players will be able to decide whether this survival horror title is the right one for them.
