Publisher Akupara Games and developer a la mode games have announced that their indie survival horror shooter Sorry We’re Closed will release on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch on March 6. Gematsu reports Sorry We’re Closed originally launched on PC on November 14, 2024.
Sorry We’re Closed takes place in a small corner of London, England. You assume the role of protagonist Michelle, a young shop assistant who carries a special ability known as Third Eye allowing her to traverse a parallel and demonic realm to that of her own home.
Six One Indie interviewed C. and Tom Bedford, head developers at a la mode games and asked whether or not they had always strived to develop Sorry Were Closed as a unique survival horror title, straying from genre staples like Resident Evil. C. had this to say “Yeah we didn’t really do other proto-typing and we weren’t really thinking so much ‘how do we make this different?’ It was just literally a question of ‘What do we want to make” Tom Bedford remarked “It was at this table, we’re at our dining table, we sat across from each other, we had notebooks we were writing down if we made a game, what would it be, we talked about different mechanics we liked. Like Ocarina of Time, and the lens of truth bled into the Third Eye ability that we have in the game…”
Sorry We’re Closed features two distinct worlds through Michelles Third Eye ability. The game features multiple endings influenced by interactions with the game’s cast. Tank controls are fully optional as well as motion sensor aiming. The game features accessibility options in aim assist, no button-toggles, and infinite healing.
Sorry We’re Closed is feature rich and even includes music by Okumura who have done work on No More Heroes. The game features an impressive aesthetic, which developer a la mode claims to have been influenced by Jet Set Radio. With all of these positive influences and great work on display, Sorry We’re Closed is on track for a successful console release.
