Publisher Megabit and developer Milky Tea Studios have announced that their mech strategy game Grit & Valor: 1949 will be releasing on PC on March 26. A PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch version will be released sometime this summer. Gematsu reports that a demo is now available on PC.
Grit & Valor: 1949 is set across Europe and into New Germany. You will assume the role of squad leader and mech pilot leading the resistance against the Axis forces on a mission to escort a command vehicle through Europe, conspicuously containing an EMP that will attack the enemy’s machine tower and headquarters.
LVL1 Gaming Interviewed CEO and Founder of Milky Tea Studios Jonathan Holmes and asked why they chose grid based tactics as their basis for the game? Jonathan replied “So, we’re massive strategy fans, nowadays who’s got the time to immerse themselves for weeks into strategy games? We wanted to build a strategy game where you could jump in and jump out. The mechanics of this game are quite unique, we call it real-time tactics. We best describe it as real-time tower defense meets speed chess, so imagine playing a tower defense game where you can adapt your pieces. Imagine at the same time you’ve got a command vehicle which is like a king in a game of chess and you’ve got to protect it. So you’ve got a squad of three mechs(each with their own strengths and weaknesses) and a vehicle you’ve got to protect.”
Grit & Valor: 1949 features unique combinations of enemy waves and terrain in each region you visit and you will level your pilots abilities through valor gained.
Milky Tea Studios seems to be a highly competent team, with their previous release HyperBrawl under their belt and having released to a positive reception. With a little luck the game may find success on its PC release with fans of the mech genre, perhaps this momentum will build come this summer.
