According to Windows Central, the upcoming open-world action game Redfall, from developers Arkane, is set to launch in early May. The upcoming Xbox exclusive pits players against a vampire infection as they try to liberate an eponymous island town, Redfall, Massachusetts. Like other Arkane titles, players will be able to battle with various creative weapons, combat abilities, and optional stealth gameplay. Redfall along with Starfield was supposed to launch last year but both titles were delayed by Bethesda to the first half of 2023.
At the time, Bethesda said “the teams at Arkane Austin (Redfall) and Bethesda Game Studios (Starfield) have incredible ambitions for their games, and we want to ensure that you receive the best, most polished versions of them. We want to thank everyone for their excitement for Redfall and Starfield. That energy is a huge part of what inspires all of us every day and drives our own excitement for what we are creating.”
“Redfall is our effort to take what Arkane does well, a hybrid of first-person games and RPGs, and stretch ourselves a little bit,” director Harvey Smith (of Dishonored and Deus Ex fame) recently said of the title. Does this work in the open world? Does it work both solo and with co-op players? Can we take all our narrative layers and our improvisational mechanics and our style and spread that out across an open world?”
The reports suggest that “Redfall is targeting an early May 2023 release window – the first week of May to be exact.” Speculation on Redfall’s release window began two weeks ago when Okami Games reported that the game was going to come out at the end of March before an update shared that it is targeting an early May release.
Update on Redfall’s release date.
Have heard that it’s been pushed back internally by about 6 weeks. Currently targeting an early May release.
Unfortunate news but I’m sure it’s for the best. https://t.co/JuytC5KxWw pic.twitter.com/PIsBaH24y3
