Often when you ask people what their favorite game is, you have the usual answers like Super Mario, some kind of sports game, or the most known first person shooter Call of Duty. Call of Duty Black Ops 6 is a first-person shooter and the latest installment of the Call of Duty franchise. When it comes to first person shooters, Call of Duty Black Ops 6, is definitely one of the best so far.
However, one of the major issues occurs as soon as you start the game. In order to play Call of Duty Black Ops 6, you have to be connected to the internet, even to play the main campaign. Once you start the campaign, you’re thrown right into the fray with almost no tutorial on the controls. However if you have played any of the past Call of Duty games, the controls have not changed and it’s very easy to figure out the controls since the hub shows you what button to press to do an action. The control and the targeting is top notch and i can tell exactly when i hit the enemies and if i miss i know its exactly my fault. As you play through levels when a new mechanic is introduced you are given plenty of time and practice to learn it until it becomes vital to the game play. I do recommend playing the campaign in order to get a feel of the controls.
During the campaign, you play as a soldier named Case, who is currently suspended from active duty after a failed mission. You work with a team of other suspended soldiers as well as criminals, to uncover the conspiracy of the Pantheon and their bio-weapon called the cradle. You will go through different levels based on places around the world in order to recruit members of your team to uncover the secrets of the pantheon and their bio-weapon. In between missions you will be placed in the Rook, a small mansion where you can check in with your teammates to learn more about them, get more information on the next mission, or upgrade your skills. You can upgrade your health, armor, ammo capacity, and your rate of fire for every type of gun you use during the game.
Everytime i would explore it in between missions i always had a feeling that something was going to jump out and either scare me or attack me. There was even a time I heard the sound effect when an enemy sees you during stealth sections which spooked me but nothing was there. To this day I don’t know if it was a glitch or my paranoia that caused me to hear that sound effect.
During missions, you will have an array of weaponry to gun down your targets, from machine guns, to missile launchers. Each level introduces a new mechanic, that while is only used for that one level, it is used frequently in the multiplayer mode. One level has you in the desert driving around doing multiple objectives, some required and some optional. In this level, you are given the mechanic of aerial bombers which is used a lot in the multiplayer mode. This mechanic calls a bomber to drop a bomb which you can direct to your intended target. Just make sure you aren’t in the blast radius. In that same level, you get a chance to use an ability to summon a chopper to gun down the hordes of enemies. Their is even a zombie level which gives you a taste of what the Call of Duty Zombies mode is like. The mission starts with Case entering an abandoned lab when he accidentally inhales a strange gas , which causes Case to hallucinate and see zombies and monsters attacking you as you try to escape the facility. This level works just like the Call of Duty Zombies mode in the game, which is a survival mode where you and friends see how long you can last against hordes of zombies.
When playing multiplayer, you are put in a team of players, against another team or in a free for all match to see who can get the most kills within a time limit or in a score attack more with each team try to outscore each other by hitting High Value targets which are chosen at the start of the mission and give the most points. Their is even a new mode called face off, which works just like regular matches but focuses more on skills over score, since the score is disabled in this mode. The multiplayer is an action pack experience where you have to pay attention at all times or you will be shot again and again. Its exciting yet stressful the whole time, you have to be on your toes and focus on your target and at the same time have fast reflexes to shot other players before they shot you. This is an adrenaline rush to anyone who is playing and is competitive, just be prepared for some toxic behavior.
In Call of Duty Zombies, you are pitted against hoards of zombies with limited resources. After each wave you are given a chance to restock on supplies and heal but have limited time before the next wave of zombies. This is a fun yet stressful mode because while you are having fun gunning down zombies you can easily get overwhelmed and jumped by the zombies and lose before you know it. If you don’t manage your ammo and make sure every shot counts you will be out of luck and be a zombies dinner. The multiplayer maps are amazing and give off a real war zone feel as you play the matches and the maps in the zombie mode give off a horror feel to it which gives matches the extra kick and improves the experience. All the mechanics in the main campaign are available in the multiplayer, so I recommend playing the story mode to get a good feel of the controls to prepare for fun or rage with other players.
In conclusion, Call of Duty Black Ops 6 is an amazing first person shooter game that has made me a fan of the franchise. With little to no glitches, a solid story with plenty of twists and turns, characters and game play, this is a great game for even new players to get into and I highly recommend it.
