Anger Foot Review

Have you ever wanted to play a first-person Booter? Nope, that isn’t a typo there is a game that legitimately refers to itself as a “First Person Booter” and that game is called Anger Foot. Developed by Free Lives and published by Developer Digital. Anger Foot is a first-person game that heavily involves kicking and shooting enemies in a fast past run and gun-style game filled to the brim with adult humor. The game is fun mindless caffeine-fueled chaos that anyone who is into that type of humor and gameplay can enjoy. How chaotic is this game? Let’s travel into the crime-ridden depths of  Shit City and find out together.

The story of Angry Foot is simple: get your limited edition shoes back from the four crime gangs that run Shit City through the art of kicking and shooting. Yep, that is the basic premise of Anger Foot, but how did it get to that point? Well, the dystopian city of Shit City is riddled with crime to the point where crime is not only the norm but encouraged by its police force. On top of that, the city crime is under the supervision of the Crime Minister and enforced by four different gangs; the Violence gang who specialize in violence, the Pollution gang which spreads pollution by any means including urinating on and in everything, the Business gang who specialize in scams and many other white-collar crimes, and finally the Debauchery gang who operate using the seven deadly sins.  The main protagonist goes by the name Anger Foot who was wronged by the four gangs by having his four limited edition sneakers stolen and given to the leaders of the four gangs. Now armed with his powerful feet and whatever weapons he comes across Anger Foot is on a mission to find his sneakers, defeat the gang leaders, and make it back to his apartment in time to have movie night with his girlfriend. As stated earlier the game’s main premise is very simple, and while it might not win any awards for its story that doesn’t make the game any less fun as most of its meat and potatoes come from its very fast-paced gameplay.

The gameplay for Anger Foot as stated earlier is so fast that it may have had at least 2 to 3 cans of energy drinks because of how high caffeine-fueled it is. Goes from room to room and floor to floor in a fast-paced run and gun where the only weapons Anger Foot is armed with are his kicks and whatever guns he picks up along the way. The gameplay is super fast-paced almost to the level of Super Hot but everyone nearly moves and shoots as fast and nearly as accurately as Anger Foot. It doesn’t take many shots to put Anger Foot down and if he does get put down he starts back at the very beginning of the level. This makes it almost clear that from a design perspective, this the game may have been intended for speed runners rather than casuals, but casuals can still enjoy it after toggling a few settings in the accessibility section that make the gameplay easier such as; easier enemies, easier bosses, or just overall easier gameplay. There is also an option to turn death off altogether, so if the player just wants to run around and kill enemies like an 80’s action hero equipped with all their plot armor, they can. The game isn’t impossible without these settings toggled on; however, it does require a lot of fast thinking and patience to get through most of the levels. On top of the fast-paced gameplay, each level has three optional challenges that vary from level to level. While not essential each challenge rewards the player with stars that are used to unlock different pairs of game-altering sneakers and shoes. For example, one pair called the “Scavengers” can give Anger Foot ammo after killing someone with his kicks while wearing a pair called the “Holy Sandals” can resurrect Anger Foot and allow him to walk on liquids. Even though some shoes are more useful than others, each shoe can and will spruce up the gameplay making it more exciting and offering more replay ability.

Overall while the game’s narrative isn’t as well written or emotional as something like Red Dead Redemption or any other game that puts a lot of work into its story it does have a very addictive and well-balanced gameplay system that anyone who is simply just looking for a brain-turning-off experience can enjoy. The game is also not very over the top with its adult humor like most recent games like High on Life, but don’t be surprised if out of nowhere Anger Foot gets surprised and killed by someone who was squatting on a toilet.
