HoYoverse developers have consistently demonstrated through their game’s updates that they know how to keep their titles feeling fresh. Today, the Zenless Zone Zero dev team shared a mountain of information about the game’s newest update, version 2.5 “To Be Fuel for the Night”. The information came packed in a detailed blog post with an accompanying trailer on their YouTube channel. Among the features planned for the update, players will have the chance to play as the first dual-form Void Hunter and engage in multiplayer battles through the new event.

The title of the update “To Be Fuel for the Night” hints at the new chapter that is coming to the game. In it, players will face the consequences of using the Qingming Sword while strange white flowers drown the Failume Heights in shadow. This chapter will also serve as the introduction to the new characters, Ye Shunguang and Zhao. The former is an S-Rank Honed Edge Attack Agent who can join forces with Proxies. The latter is an S-Rank Ice Defense Agent who serves as powerful support to Ye Shunguang.

Beyond the new chapter and characters, the update will also come with new multiplayer and community features. One highly requested feature will arrive with the Joint Investigation: The Divine Maze event, which will allow players to work together in groups of three to fight off enemies. The new Proxy Outposts will allow players to share ideas and tasks between one another as well. The update also promises smaller requested changes, such as enhancing the combat abilities of older characters and providing new costumes to obtain.

The 2.5 update to Zenless Zone Zero promises to end the year with a bang. From expanding old ideas to redefining what kind of characters can exist in the game; it is clear that the team is willing to use modern updates to experiment. Fans of the game will have a chance to experience these additions for themselves when the update launches December 30th.
