It’s an uncommon occurrence to see the release of a card-based video game as a priced titled. With free-to-play games like Hearthstone, Elder Scrolls: Legends, and Gwent being high-quality plays backed by other major studios it will be interesting to see how Konami handles the launch of Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist: Link Evolution. There has been a free-to-play Yu-Gi-Oh! game on apps stores, but Link Evolution looks to bring loads of content to fans later this summer. The announcement that pre-orders are already available in digital and physical versions was accompanied by an early trailer:
Link Evolution aims to bring over 20 years of Yu-Gi-Oh! history and cards to old and new players alike. To establish their dominance as a master duelist they’ll have to take on iconic characters from the original series, ARC-V notables, and duelists from the virtual VRAINS. Not only will classic battles feel new and original, but players will be able to challenge one another with Nintendo Switch Online and even with local play. Impersonating the characters from the series will be even more diverse, allowing for roleplaying as heroes and villains with Reverse Duels.
Duelists will be able to build their custom decks from over 9,000 cards, which Konami has made clear is the most in any previous Yu-Gi-Oh! trading card game. And that’s not all, those that purchase Link Evolution will receive all of the content from the previous Legacy of the Duelist game. Those looking to pre-order who also play the physical card game should look to pre-order a physical copy too since that will be the only pre-order version that will include 3 brand new cards. These cards shown below include: Progleo the Link Monster, Cynet Codec the Spell Card, and Micro Coder the Cyberse Monster.
Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist: Link Evolution will be a Nintendo Switch exclusive coming August 20.
