Back in 2020, a crew of former AAA industry veterans including Thomas Giroux, Jeff Skalski, Frédéric St-Laurent B., and Mike Laidlaw announced their new independent studio, Yellow Brick Games. Today, they have officially announced and revealed its debut title Eternal Strands, a brand-new Fantasy Action-Adventure game developed in Unreal Engine 5. Yellow Brick Games wants to bring a new emergent gameplay experience by blending innovative physics-based systems with engaging action-combat for revolutionary gameplay interactions in which the world becomes your weapon.

Eternal Strands puts players in the shoes of Brynn, a young and fearless Weaver, determined to recover her people’s cultural home by uncovering the mysteries of the Enclave, a once powerful nation that now lies dormant.

Players will be able to fight epic, 25-meters-high climbable creatures called the Arks while blending magical abilities with an arsenal of powerful weapons to keep the world from crumbling. Players can also use the environment and extreme weather events to their advantage in battles against a big roster of fantastical creatures. Players will immerse themselves in a vast and rich lore where they will build relationships with a diverse cast of characters.

It’s a very different game to ones I’ve worked on in the past, and it’s been a delight to generally answer the question ‘what if the player does X?’ with ‘Cool!’. It’s also exciting to have a chance to build an all-new world that encourages and reacts to this kind of play.”

Eternal Strands is set to launch on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.
