In the eternal battle between AMD and Nvidia, specs for Team Red’s upcoming 300 series GPU release were leaked earlier this week. There have been many rumors about AMD’s much anticipated 300 series GPUs in recent news, such as a June release, Freesync support, and the new cards not simply being rebranded 200 series cards, but an entirely new lineup being introduced.
Videocardz.com got their hands on the latest information regarding AMD’s latest graphics card refresh. The leaked XFX Radeon 370 Core Edition will come in 2GB and 4GB GDDR5 variants running across a 256-bit interface. The card will boast two dual-DVI ports, HDMI, as well as DisplayPort. The 370 will be powered by a single 6-pin power connector and will require a miniscule 110W to 130W. The card is now rumored to drop in early April – much sooner than the previously rumored June release.
The elephant in the room is which offering from Nvidia the 370 will have to compete against. The clock speeds and possibly most importantly, price, for the 370 Core Edition have yet to be announced. The current card that the 370 will replace is geared towards more mid-level graphics and gaming. Nvidia recently launched their GeForce GTX 960 for roughly $200, which seems to be the sweet spot for value versus price at 1080p gaming. Hopefully Team Red’s offering will remain there or even surpass it. If the rumors are true, we might not have to wait long to find out.
