Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition Launches This May

Ever since Nintendo and Monolith Software announced Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition last September, the fanbase has been eagerly anticipating the release date for this all-time classic JRPG. Finally, Nintendo let the cat out of the bag. During a surprise Nintendo Direct Mini, the company announced that Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition will officially launch this year on May 29, which is just a little more than a month from now. The release will also be accompanied by a sweet-looking limited edition that has an art book and a slipcase that is dubbed the Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Works Set.

According to Nintendo, the game’s visuals have been vastly improved upon which includes the in-game mechanics, battles, the HUD, and other menus in general. This also applies to the music which now boasts well over 90 in-game tracks that have been remastered along with the game. In addition, there will be a special prologue added into the game called Xenoblade Chronicles: Future Connected. In this prologue, you’ll play as Shulk and Melia in the new landscape called the Bionis’ Shoulder.

As you can see in the above image, the Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Works Set comes with the game and an awesome mini 250-page art book that has an equally awesome slipcase cover. While no specific pricing was shown, certain retailers like Best Buy already have this up on their website with the current retail price of $79.99. Therefore, it’s safe to say that when all of the other storefronts put this limited edition up, it will have the same price.

For those who aren’t aware, Xenoblade Chronicles originally came out for the Nintendo Wii in Japan in 2010. Other regions wouldn’t get their hands on it until 2011, and thanks to the famous Operation Rainfall, North America would finally get it in 2012. The game was an instant classic is considered one of the best JRPG’s of the 2010s. The success continued with a more than decent port to the Nintendo 3DS in 2015, a spinoff titled Xenoblade Chronicles X for the Wii U, and a full-fledged sequel for the Switch dubbed Xenoblade Chronicles 2.

The love and passion that the fans have for this game is unquestionable, and now they won’t have to wait long to enjoy it all over again. Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition officially launches on May 29 for the Nintendo Switch.
