Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Additional Amiibo Content in Latest Breath of the Wild Update

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild received an update earlier today that adds crossover promotional gear from Xenoblade Chronicles 2, a side quest, new equipment repurchase option, and support for new amiibo releasing tomorrow.

Players can take on the side quest titled Xenoblade Chronicles 2 once the version 1.3.3 update is installed. The reward for completing the quest is armor based off Rex’s clothing in the Xenoblade sequel. Link’s new armor was revealed at the end of a recent Xenoblade Direct.

A full description of the quest can be found below.

The southern sky from the middle of the largest bridge. The eastern sky from the skull’s left eye. The southeastern sky from the peak of the tall, pierced snowy mountain.

Look to the night sky at these locations and find the red shooting stars!

Although this is not the first time quests have been added to Breath of the Wild, the Xenoblade content is the first crossover content for the game. Previous DLC missions granted players equipment from different Zelda entries, like Majora’s MaskPhantom Hourglass and Twilight Princess.

This update brought more DLC equipment as the title prepared itself for the launch of the four Champions amiibo tomorrow, Nov. 10. Daruk, Mipha, Revali and Urbosa will once again offer aid to Link as scanning each of their amiibo give the hero helmets that correspond to the Divine Beasts. Each helmet (Vah Rudania, Vah Ruta, Vah Medoh, Vah Naboris Divine Helms) comes with a level one boost to either swim speed or elemental resistance.

These helmets are also part of a set bonus, which happens when players equip Link in a matching three piece suit of armor. To achieve a set bonus with these helmets, players must equip powered-up versions of the Ancient Cuirass and Greaves for an Ancient Proficiency bonus. All Ancient or Guardian weapons gain a damage boost under this equipment perk.

While these items are rare, an NPC named Granté, can sell rare equipment back to Link, granted the items in question were previously found, including DLC content. He can be found in Tarrey Town.
