Xbox has announced that its next-generation console, Xbox Series X will launch in November later this year giving us our first release window for either next-gen console. This news comes after Halo Infinite was delayed to 2021. Will Tuttle, Xbox Wire Editor In Chief said, “Today, we announced updates to Halo Infinite’s launch timing. Our vision at Xbox and 343 Industries has always been to deliver the most ambitious Halo game ever for our fans, while also balancing the team’s well-being. To do that, we will need more time to finish the critical work necessary to launch Halo Infinite, which will come in 2021.”
With the delay of Halo Infinite, Xbox shifted the focus of the lack of the game coming with the launch of Xbox Series X to the “thousands of games to play, spanning four generations, when Xbox Series X launches globally this November and over 100 optimized for Xbox Series X titles, built to take full advantage of our most powerful console, are planned for this year,” Tuttle said.
Ever since the beginning of the year, Microsoft has provided a lot of details into what makes Xbox Series X its most powerful console. Features include hardware-accelerated Direct X raytracing, framerates up to 120 frames per second, faster loading times, and Quick Resume for multiple games.
Some of the biggest features that Microsoft has detailed as part of Xbox 20/20 includes the Xbox Velocity Architecture, Optimized for Xbox Series X, Smart Delivery, and continued focus on Backwards Compatibility.
Xbox Series X will also provide access to thousands of games that span the four generations of Xbox: the original Xbox, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. There will also be a selection of games that you can play through Xbox Game Pass. Recently, Microsoft revealed that their streaming service xCloud will be part of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate so players will also have the option to play more than 100 games from the cloud on the go.
