After being provided with a month long extension to sell Arkane Studios, Xbox may finally have a buyer. According to a recent Bloomberg report, including Ubisoft and two other production companies who have not yet made their bids public. Additionally, Xbox is considering keeping Arkane in their ownership, but as a buyout, which would result in the small studio going almost completely indie.
Multiple companies have made offers to Microsoft Corp. to acquire Arkane Studios, the French video-game developer behind the Dishonored series and an upcoming title based on the Blade comic books, according to people familiar with the negotiations.
The reason Microsoft and Xbox are looking to sell Arkane Studios in the first place is directly related to Xbox’s decision to “reorganize” that was made earlier this year. Many employees of the other impacted studios, including Double Fine and Undead Labs, transitioned into management owned indie studios. However, because Arkane Studios is located in France, Xbox must follow the “Florange Law.” This law requires all companies who own french studios “with more than 1,000 employees” to make an attempt to locate a buyer before closing the facility.
Regardless of what group Arkane Studios is acquired by, fans remain hopeful that Marvel’s Blade will still be published sometime within the next couple years. Marvel’s Blade, announced back in 2023, is an action adventure game that has been in development by Arkane Studios. Currently, is still scheduled to be published under Bethesda Studios.
The game is inspired by the Blade comics, and adds an additional narrative to vampire hunter Eric Brooks’ story “as he attempts to stave off a vampiric invasion in Paris while struggling with his origins among both the undead and the living.” As of today, November 5, 2026, Xbox has yet to comment on the future of Marvel’s Blade, most likely waiting to sell the studio before announcing the game’s status.
