Wait, didn’t we just post this story like a week ago? Almost, but not quite. On the heels of Sony’s announcement that the PS4 sold 1 million units in the first 24 hours, Microsoft has announced that the Xbox One has achieved that same feat.
With both companies breaking respective company console sales records, it’s clear the console market isn’t going anywhere any time soon. It also points to the increasing importance of pre-orders in the mainstream game industry. More and more sales are occurring before products even come out, meaning there are more customers participating in the game industry who are putting their trust in companies to deliver quality hardware.
Sorry to disappoint people who took sides in the console war, but with both Microsoft and Sony pulling numbers like this we’ll have to wait and see who winds up king of the mountain in the end.
