Over the weekend, Microsoft and more specifically Team Xbox showcased a massive lineup of games coming from Xbox Games Studios and several new third-party titles. But, that wasn’t the end of things. Today, Xbox held its Xbox Game Showcase Extended 2023 where Xbox revealed new details about some of the games that were a part of the Xbox Games Showcase and announced some new titles coming to the platform as well. Here is a rundown of everything that was presented during the Xbox Game Showcase Extended.
The first official look at Cyberpunk 2077’s expansion, Phantom Liberty was revealed during the Xbox Games Showcase. V travels to Dogtown, a district within Night City never explored until now on a mission to save the President of the New United States. During the Extended presentation, Quest Director Pawel Sasko took a tour of Dogtown’s Night Market, one of the many locations players will discover in Phantom Liberty. CD Projekt Red has completely overhauled the game, focusing on making the world feel more alive, updates to the skill and armor systems, updates to enemy AI, the police system, and more. Keanu Reeves also discussed the new expansion in an interview talking about his and Johhny Silverhand’s thoughts on Dogtown, its ruler Colonel Hansen, secret agent Soloman Reed (played by Idris Elba), and more.
Squanch Games has announced an expansion for High on Life called High on Knife. The expansion will focus on Knifey, the bloodthirsty melee weapon and will take the game in a horror-comedy direction. Throughout the trailer, new characters, enemies, and biomes are shown. There will also be a new gun coming to the game. The new gun is called Harper and will be voiced by Sarah Sherman (Saturday Night Live)
The Lamplighters League is an original pulp adventure set in an alternate 1930s developed by Harebrained Schemes, the creators of The Shadowrun Trilogy and BattleTech. The game will challenge players to use a mix of real-time infiltration, tactical turn-based combat, and team management to thwart the plans of the Banished Court, a tyrannical cult on the cusp of world domination. The game launches on October 3, 2023.
Game Director Carrie Patel talked a little bit more about Obisian’s upcoming Fantasy RPG Avowed. The game is set within the world of Pillars of Eternity, another franchise that Obisian created and is set in the Living Lands, a mysterious island filled with adventure and danger in the fictional world of Eora. Patel also talked about Kai, the first companion introduced to the player.
Gameplay was revealed for The First Descendant, a next-generation third-person looter shooter developed using Unreal Engine 5. The game has strategic boss fights through 4-player co-op, unique characters, exciting gunplay, and looting. A Crossplay Beta was announced and will run for a week starting from Tuesday, August 22, 2023 through Monday, August 28, 2023.
Stoic, the creators of The Banner Saga shared more about its next title, Towerborne which was revealed during the Xbox Games Showcase. The developers went into what inspired the game and revealed more details about the game’s art, seasonability, and lore. New gameplay footage showcased the player’s journey from The Belfry to the world map, then into combat.
The next update for Fallout 76 is titled Once in a Blue Moon and is set to launch on June 20 across all platforms. The update adds two new Public Events and two new cryptids. The trailer also showcased the first look at Atlantic City, the next update coming to the game.
Tango Gameworks has announced a new update for Hi-Fi Rush which will be coming to the game next month on July 5. free for all players who already own the game. The Arcade Challenge! Update! brings in two new modes: BMP RUSH! and Power Up! Tower Up!, and new music, a grab bag of player customizations, and Special attacks.
Creative Director Rich Lambert and Art Director CJ Grebb break down footage of the latest Necrom Chapter and discuss all the reasons why ESO and the latest Chapter is worth jumping into today for new and returning players. The Elder Scrolls Online: Necrom is now available on PC/Mac and will launch on consoles on June 20, 2023.
The hit 4-player online co-op, psychological horror game Phasmophobia is headed to consoles in August. You and your team of paranormal investigators will enter haunted locations filled with paranormal activity and try to gather as much evidence as you can. Use your ghost-hunting equipment to find and record evidence to sell on to a ghost removal team.
New variant Exosuits and a new game mode were revealed for Exoprimal. The variants will change the way each suit will play. The new high-octane co-op mode, Savange Gauntlet tasks players with clearing missions efficiently rather than racing against another team.
A Dune expansion was announced for Microsoft Flight Simulator. Head of the team Jorg Neumann, host Parris Lilly and Academy Award-winning Production Designer of the Dune film franchise, Patrice Vermette took a behind-the-scenes look of the expansion and provided new details coming to the free content update which will be available on November 3, 2023.
Go Mecha Ball is a new action-packed roguelite where players can switch between a gun-toting walking mech and an agile, rolling ball. The game features four distinct worlds players can blast their way through, filled with sons of glitches, relentless boss battles, and increasingly wacky tools and obstacles. Players can unlock several dozen new weapons, abilities and upgrades alongside four unique mechs.
Developer Neowiz presented a new look at Lies of P which is set to release on September 19, 2023. Neowiz highlighted several of the game’s core features as well as a first look at the weapon combination system, Legion Arms, and progression system. Additionally, a demo is available now if you want to give the game a try.
