If you’re a fan of CD Projekt Red but not necessarily the direction CD Projekt Red has been going to past several years then you’re in luck, Rebel Wolves, a company created from a splinter faction of old CD Projekt Red developers from their Witcher 3 days looks to make an impact in the gaming industry with their own original game The Blood of Dawnwalker, with a new gameplay reveal happening yesterday during the Xbox Games Showcase.
As you can expect from former Witcher 3 devs, the world is rough to say the least. A country led by vampires bleeding their peasantry dry, literally, you play as one of these hapless peasants turned into a daywalking vampire through some intervention of fate we don’t quite know yet, but the gameplay absolutely screams “bloodthirsty killer” so if that’s what you’re into this is for you.
No doubt Rebel Wolves have learned from their Witcher 3 days, Witcher 3 for all its praise was occasionally criticized for clunky combat, the gameplay of The Blood of the Dawnwalker looks to be similar to Witcher 3’s but much more refined, which is the best possible case for a game like this, really pulling us into the fantasy of being a teleporting creature of the night (dawn) with savage claw and bite attacks of course, but also seemingly a variety of medieval weapons like swords and daggers.
Keep The Blood of the Dawnwalker in mind as we head into 2026, where it’ll definitely be one of the premier games of the year. Games from Europe have really come into their own in terms of popularity and design, and their industry is possibly the strongest it’s ever been, and Blood of the Dawnwalker will be right in the middle of it. The Blood of the Dawnwalker will release in 2026 for Xbox, Playstation, and PC.
