What’s that, Persona fans? You want Persona 6? Well, not today or anytime soon but here’s another remake.
Yeah there it is. It’s more of a proof of concept than anything else, we don’t really have any footage of the gameplay beyond Yu jogging around Inaba. We don’t actually know much about this game (beyond some of the English cast such as Yuri Lowenthal, not returning for this remake), but the reaction from the Persona and Shin Megami Tensei fanbases have been mixed at best.
While many people had gripes with Persona 3’s gameplay and that game never had a true definitive release (though one could argue Persona 3 Reload wasn’t a true definitive release either) Persona 4 has a very well received definitive release that’s available on modern platforms in the form of Persona 4 Golden, and it has aged very well to the point that many people are saying that Persona 4 Golden’s artstyle looks better than what was shown in that teaser above. Though again, it seems to be in the very early stages and it’s possible they refine what’s shown by the time of release.
It’s true that many, if not most, Persona fans didn’t really want this and would have preferred a Persona 6 or even a Persona 1 and 2 remake over a Persona 4 remake (though remake fatigue argues that a remake of any kind would be met with derision and a loathing at the current dire state of the industry’s creative) there are bound to be some fans that will receive the news of this happily. For those few dedicated fans, or maybe even for the skeptics that were really won over by 47 seconods of Yu doing some morning exercise, Persona 4 Revival has no set release date, but when it does come out it’ll be on Xbox Series X|S, Playstation 5, and PC.
