Bloober Team is hot off the heels of the Silent Hill 2 Remake, and now with that momentum it looks like they’re ready to move on to their next project, Cronos: The New Dawn, a horror sci-fi game as shown at the Xbox Games Showcase.
Bloober Team really knows how to dance with who brought them, this is another horror game from them. After remaking Silent Hill 2 they’ve put quite the feather in their cap and are now moving from Silent Hill 2’s slower paced, melancholy atmosphere to a more shock horror space sci-fi game taking place in a corrupted ship.
Now, the words “space sci-fi taking place in a corrupted ship” might ring some bells for you and Cronos: The New Dawn definitely gives off Event Horizon vibes, nobody can hear you scream in space after all. Oh, and Dead Space. Bloober Team have taken inspiration from many different games in their 17 years of existence. Famously, (or infamously depending on your point of view) their game Layers of Fear took a lot of inspiration from the Playable Teaser P.T. game that was supposed to tease Hideo Kojima’s Silent Hills.
Well, Bloober Team finally got their hands on an actual Silent Hill, and now they’re taking a crack at the survival space horror of Dead Space. There is a giant sci-fi horror shaped hole in the industry right now, with the actual Dead Space IP in a bit of a limbo to say the least so Bloober Team’s Cronos: The New Dawn may fill that hole for you if you’re really hankering to get jumped by a xenomorph. If this sounds good to you, Cronos: The New Dawn is set to release this Fall on Xbox X|S, Playstation 5, and PC.
