Earlier this year, Microsoft announced that they had begun planning out its big Summer event, the Xbox Games Showcase for this year. Today, they have taken the next step and revealed the date and time for the event. This year’s Xbox Games Showcase is set for June 9, 2024, at 10 am PT / 1 pm ET. Microsoft also announced that like last year, a Direct will be happening immediately after the showcase.
Xbox noted that this will be the first showcase featuring games from its portfolio of studios across Activision, Blizzard, Bethesda, and Xbox Games Studio in addition to titles from third-party partners. The Verge is reporting that the showcase will feature a number of release dates for some of its upcoming titles including Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, Avowed, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. There have also been numerous reports that we will see the first look at the next Gears of War.
As for the Direct, many fans may have noticed the logo from the Call of Duty Black Ops series. The Verge reports that while Microsoft has only teased the Direct as “the next installment of beloved franchise,” sources familiar with the company’s plans did say that it will be Call of Duty. According to The Verge, the Direct will be a deep dive into the next installment of Call of Duty. Reports and leaks reveal that the next Call of Duty will be set during the Gulf War.
The Xbox Games Showcase will be available live through a variety of outlets including YouTube, Twitch, and Facebook, and in over 30 languages, and American Sign Language and English Audio Description. Xbox will also host a premier viewing event in Los Angeles and Xbox FanFest is giving away tickets. People can enter the FanFest sweepstakes beginning on May 2 for a chance to win tickets or even a free trip to get there.
