The long-running WWE 2k series is continuing its streak of yearly releases with WWE 2k24. The trailer released earlier today alongside the announcement of its three cover stars. On the standard edition will be the American Nightmare Cody Rhodes, with the deluxe edition of the game being both Bianca BelAir and Rhea Ripley. Over the past couple of weeks, there has been more and more information releasing about this year’s WWE 2k including the rumors of returning match types and a Wrestlemania anniversary mode. Well with the trailer all of this and more was confirmed as a focus for this year’s 2k promotion is a run on Cody Rhodes’s words for the past 2 years or so, to finish your story. This year being the 40th anniversary of WrestleMania, the game will be including a 40 years of WrestleMania mode where the player will be participating in old and new iconic WrestleMania moments.
The trailer is heavily linked to major moments in WrestleMania history such as Cody Rhodes heartbreaking loss to Roman Reigns last year, Hulk Hogan taking on Andre The Giant at the very first WrestleMania and The Undertaker Retiring Shawn Michaels. Very clearly leaning into that nostalgia angle. The game will also be featuring multiple new and returning match types such as a casket match, gauntlet matches, ambulance matches, and special guest referees returning. 2k is also promising a lot more content coming to this years career mode, a much needed addition as many fans have been very outspoken about the lack of direction in the career mode of past 2k’s. A new mode is getting introduced that will be similar to career mode, that being Unleashed and Undisputed. Unleashed will be focusing on male superstars starting from the bottom all the way to championship glory as Undisputed will be focusing on the female superstars. My faction and Universe mode are all also slated to return.
Players can look forward to experiencing the showcase of Immortals at WrestleMania and finishing their story when WWE 2k24 releases on March 8th 2024.
