Wuthering Waves Version 1.1 is drawing to a close, and 1.2 is eager to follow in its footsteps when it releases on August 15th, 2024. The version trailer released yesterday, highlighting the two new five star Resonators, their new weapons, and the events and story missions players will be getting in the new update.
First, the new characters are Zhezhi and Xiangli Yao. Zhezhi is a five-star Glacio unit who wields rectifiers, similar to Genshin Impact’s catalysts. Xiangli Yao will be an Electro five-star wielding gauntlets as his weapon of choice. As of now, these character kits have not been revealed, but considering the abundance of DPS units dotting limited banners in the game so far, more support-oriented characters might be a nice alternative.
Zhezhi will most likely be released first, with Xiangli Yao taking over three weeks into the patch. However, a surprise at the end of the trailer revealed that Xiangli Yao will be available as a free five-star for all players. How players will secure a free copy remains to be seen, but is something to look forward to. Players now can either pull for Zhezhi without worrying or save for later characters. Zhezhi will also get her own companion mission for players to get to know her better.
Besides that, there will also be a whole host of new events, with a large one called By Moon’s Grace seems to be the update’s centerpiece and main story. A smaller defense event involves protecting a monument from encroaching mobs. More new content known as Carnival in Slumberland – Depths of the Illusive Realm will also feature, offering some unique rewards like a strong echo. There will also be a returnee event for players who haven’t picked the game up in a while.
Overall, Version 1.2 seems primed to follow up Version 1.1 and continue Wuthering Waves in a positive direction just a few months after its official release.
