Blaze Entertainment’s retro handheld emulator, the Evercade, has found itself a solid fan base since it launched in Spring 2020. Stylized as a new type of enjoying classic titles, the Evercade was generally well-received, with most reviewers praising the simplistic, yet effective design of the system and how it handles the games on the ROM cartridges. Despite already having roughly 122 classic titles available for the console, Blaze Entertainment isn’t resting on that number as they’ve recently announced that they will have five new cartridges releasing throughout the year, with some of them being available to pre-order right now.

As you can see in the tweet above, Worms will be one of the new cartridges to grace the Evercade. The company announced the port last year during the 25 Anniversary of the franchise. Worms has been a long time stalwart of the video game community, with Worms Armageddon often being considered the best in the series. Thankfully, that title is among the select few that were picked for the Worms Collection 1 cartridge, with the other two titles being Worms and Worms Blast respectfully. This collection will launch later this year in May 2021, with an exact date to be announced later.
As we already mentioned, there are other cartridges set to launch this year. This includes the Jaleco Collection 1, which is comprised of 10 games like Astyanax, Brawl Brothers, City Connection, and Earth Defense Force. The Piko Interactive 2 will include a wide array of sports titles such as Summer Challenge, Beast Ball, Top Racer 2, and Soccer Kid. Both of these sets will launch April 2021. Releasing alongside Worms in May 2021 is also the Indies Heroes Collection that houses special adventure 8-bit titles like Flea, Quest Arrest – Exclusive Color Version, and Twin Dragon.
Lastly, releasing later in the middle of 2021 is the Codemasters Collection 1. You might recognize the name as it’s the exact same studio that created the popular Dirt franchise and released Dirt 5 just a couple of months ago. Believe it or not, the company has been making video games since 1986, and now some of those titles will be brought back for the Evercade. Classic titles for this collection include Sensible Soccer, Cannon Fodder, Mega-Lo-Mania, Cosmic Spacehead, and an unreleased game, Tennis All-Stars. As we already stated, this collection is currently slated for a mid-2021 launch, so hopefully, we’ll hear more about a potential release date as we progress through the year.
