Blizzard Entertainment has finally let the cat out of the bag on when World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade Classic will release. The expansion will officially launch worldwide on June 1 with several different release times and will be available to anyone who is subscribed to World of Warcraft Classic. However, for those who wish to migrate to the new server, you’ll have to go through a brand new process that Blizzard is making just for the expansion.

As Blizzard continues to add more content to the Classic server, players will start to notice the beginning events that eventually lead to The Burning Crusade. The company did the exact same thing leading up to the expansion’s original release in 2006 for vanilla World of Warcraft. One major difference will be the implementation of a new feature that had been dubbed “Cloning.” Starting on May 18, players in the Classic server will have three options to choose from.
The first will be the obvious one, moving your already leveled character into the new Burning Crusade Classic server. This will literally take your character and remove its pre-expansion state, essentially deleting it from the original Classic server for good. The second option is not moving your character at all. This will lock in whichever one you choose and they will be unable to move into a Burning Classic Server.
The third and most expansive option is a combination of both. You can activate the initial free character and then pay a fee to reactivate the character locked in the older server. While the post made by Blizzard does not show the pricing for this option, Polygon states that it will cost $35. Keep in mind that once you activate whichever character you want to clone for Burning Crusade Classic, the decision is permanent so think hard on which ones you wish to progress.
There are a plethora of other limitations and requirements for Cloning that Blizzard has listed on the official site, which you can check out here, but once we actually get to the process and start playing Burning Crusade Classic, it will more than likely be much simpler than it looks. The Burning Crusade is often considered one of the best expansions for World of Warcraft, and fans new and old are more than likely ready to venture into the famous Outland and take on Illidan Stormrage.
