What The Success Of Red Dead Redemption 2 & Rockstar Has Taught CD Projekt Red

In a recent conference call discussing the financial results of developer CD Projekt Red’s third quarter, they were asked what the success of Red Dead Redemption 2 has taught them. One of the major things they said besides giving praise to the game and its developer Rockstar, was how much quality plays into the success of the game.

Adam Kicinski, the CEO of CD Projekt Red, told the reporter who asked the question this: “Without a doubt, quality is of paramount importance. We strive to publish games which are as refined as Red Dead Redemption 2, and recent Rockstar releases in general. That game is excellent, by the way, we are rooting for it. Rave reviews, excellent sales.” He then starts to talk about the state of the video game industry today. He believes that the trend in the industry today is that gamers seem to focus more and more on hit releases. There’s only so much time one can devote to video games, and while the gaming community is growing, time cannot be stretched. There are a lot of games out there, and it pays to be the best.

One of the other topics discussed was how the development of Cyberpunk 2077 was going since E3. Adam Kicinski told the reporters that they  are flushing out the game world; filling the world with content and tweaking things, and this involves a great deal of hard work on the part of the developers. CD Projekt Red is progressing fast and according to plan. After they finish, there’s also the hugely important phase of polishing all that game content .which also takes a considerable amount of time. The other main topic or game that was discussed during the conference call was CD Projekt’s recent release, Thronebreaker, which is a spin-off of The Witcher series that takes place before Geralt’s adventures.
