After it’s first beta release three months ago, West of Dead finally gets it another beta released on February 14th, 2020. Voiced by Ron Perlman (who is most known for Hellboy and Sons of Anarchy), West of Dead combines twin stick shooter mechanics into one big western mystical shootout.
You asked and we’re delivering. The gates of Purgatory will open February 14th for both Xbox One AND Steam users.

William Mason, the undead protagonist of this game, has to shoot his way through other undead Cowboys to make his way out of Purgatory, Wyoming.
“What we always do at the start of a project is we prototype – we prototype quite ruthlessly,”
head of code and design Adam Langridge tells us.
“This is something that I learned from my time in R&D at Lionhead. We would start with a feeling that we wanted to explore, and we’d box prototype it.”
West of Dead was previously revealed at X019 and its first beta was included in the Project xCloud games library last November. It’s not available this time, but people can play it the more traditional way by downloading it onto an Xbox or playing it on Steam (though Steam users will need a gamepad for this beta) . Neither Microsoft nor publisher Raw Fury have said for how long the beta will be around, but we do know that when it launches in full later this year, it will hit Xbox Game Pass on day one. The West of Dead Beta will run until February 24.
For any more information about West of Dead, there is a lengthy feature created by Edge. Developed by UK-based Upstream Arcade, the game will also be released on Xbox One, Xbox Game Pass, PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC the spring of 2020.
